Gima-Ha International Karate-Do Federation (G.I.K.F.) is led by two of the four senior apprentices to Grand Master Makoto Gima. A direct line pedigree from Ankoh Itosu through Kentsu Yabu onto Grand Master Gima.
A secondary direct lineage runs from Gichin Funakoshi and Kanken Toyama through Grand Master Gima.
Our leaders are Mitsunori Kobayashi and Hidetada Narumi; both being apprentices to the late master Makoto Gima.
Kobayashi Sensei (Kaicho) was born on February 25, 1944, and until recently was the 27th Resident of Kaieizan Joshoji Temple in Katakai-Cho, Ojiya-Shi, Niigata, Japan.
Narumi Sensei (Shuseki Shihan) was born on 27th April, 1944. He has practised karate from a young age, and has been active for over 60 years. Narumi Sensei was a direct apprentice to Grand Master Makoto Gima, and was an integral figure within the Zen Nihon Karate-Do Shisei-Kai Rengou-Kai under the auspices of Grand Master Gima, and the Canadian all styles federation – the National Karate Association (later Karate Canada).
Although G.I.K.F. is run under the auspicies of the two Masters named above, member countries have autonomy. The U.K. Branch, albeit small, is largely located in Kent, England. The Senior Dojo instructors all hold the grade of 5th Dan or above. They form the core of the ‘Instructors Committee’ under the guidance and supervision of the U.K. Chief Instructor Emeritus.
