2025 STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARDS

GIKF UK heartily congratulate two fine young ladies on their outstanding dedication and achievements in 2025. Both have shown tenacity, determination and exceptional behaviour throughout the year, and both have fared well in Regional Taikais.

The winner of the Narumi Cup (30 plus year history) is Rachel E. of SHidokan Dojo Lenham.

The winner of the Shidokan Lenham Dojo Student of the year award was presented to Tallulah.

Well done ladies, we hope you continue to grow within your karate and have many more years of enjoyment of our art.

BASK Tournament

The Lenham Shidokan Dojo again sent a team to the BASK (British Academy of Shotokan Karate) grass roots competition. The Shidokan Lenham Dojo is currently building a new competitive squad and have been active in such events. The surnames of children are omitted for security purposed.

• Rosie – silver in Kata.
• Tallulah – silver kata, in Kumite.
• Jackson – bronze Kata and silver Kumite.
• Rachel – silver kata and Kumite.
• Adam – Bronze kata and silver Kumite.
• George – gold Kumite.
• William – bronze kata, gold Kumite.
• Honey- Gold kata and silver Kumite
• Roman – Bronze kata.
• Elsie – Bronze kata.
• Ronnie- silver Kumite.
• Pairs kata – Rosie & Tallulah Gold
• 3 person Team Kata – RTH Gold.

BASK Tournament

On the 28th September 2025 Shidokan Lenham (Part of Gima-Ha International Karate Do Federation) had a fantastic day at British Academy of Shotokan Karate (BASK) National tournament.

The dojo took a squad of 9, namely: Rosie, Tallulah, George, Honey, Jackson, Roman, Rosa. Rachel and Sensei Ben Ervine.

Out of our 9 competitors they had 2 firsts; Rosa was very brave and entered her first competition and Jackson achieved his first podium placement.

Results

• In Kata they won Silver in 3 person team (Honey, Rosie and Tallulah),
• Silver in parent and child team (Sensei Ben and Rachel),
• Tallulah won Bronze in individual Kata.
• George, Roman and Honey all made it through to the finals but didn’t place on this occasion.

When it came to fighting all did really well, Rosa received bronze in her first ever tournament, Sensei Ben, Jackson and Tallulah also managed to finish their divisions in 3rd place, Rachel teamed up with another dojo’s to form a teen girls team and was rewarded with bronze in both team Kumite as well as rotational Kumite and Honey achieved divisional champion and brought home the gold!

All three instructors are immensely proud of the students, but most importantly they all enjoyed themselves and the camaraderie was outstanding. The Lenham Shidokan Dojo sent a team to the BASK (British Academy of Shotokan Karate) grass roots competition.
