The Shidokan Dojo is located in Lenham near Maidstone, Kent, England. Initiated in 2014 in Maidstone, Kent the dojo had to close during the Covid Pandemic. It re-opened in the Lenham School , Ham Lane, Lenham ME17 2LL.
In the past 11 years Shidokan has become a force on the South East England Competition circuit, and is making its mark Nationally and internationally.
The Chief Instructor, Steven Edwards is himself a seasoned and successful competitor representing the UK in KWF, JSKA, and JKA (Asai) championships in Europe and at World Level. Steve Edwards Sensei is a student of Robert Sidoli, therefore his own karate is a fusion of Gima-Ha Karate and old style JKA, as found in the days when Gima-Ha instructors trained and taught at Masatoshi Nakayama’s private Hoitsugan Dojo.
At Maidstone and Lenham Shidokan Karate we pride ourselves in the students accomplishments. Accomplishments that take the individual forward in life, not just within the arena of Karate-Do.
In conclusion, we are proud that ours students learn and perform at high levels, from simple punches to complex Kata. We are more proud to say that through their training, they learn respect for themselves and others. Perhaps our motto should be ‘Genkai Made’ as it needs us to always train with heart, to the maximum, to achieve the personal best. Whichever way we slice the cake, we can say that ‘together we will walk the way of Karate-Do’; we are a team, therefore ‘together’ is the key. We are ‘Kazoku’ (family).
